Two days before Christmas I had the pleasure of photographing Jon and Susan in my hometown of Littleton, CO. Jon is a childhood friend of mine and when he asked if I would photograph his wedding I couldn’t have been more excited! Jon and Susan met while attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and I CAN’T WAIT for their wedding there this July!

I was thrilled when Jon mentioned he was going to be bringing Susan to Colorado for Christmas and decided to hop on a plane and fly to Denver to photograph their engagement session. We were given such a beautiful snowy day as our backdrop…a little cold…but so worth it! I have a friend who lives on a magical piece of property up Deer Creek Canyon and was incredibly thankful she allowed us to shoot up there. Jerry Lee her German Shepherd decided to join in on our fun, as well as a few looky-loo deer! Jon and Susan are such a great match…let’s just say I didn’t have to coach them on when to kiss and when to smile…they did lots of that all on their own.

I feel beyond lucky to call these two friends and I’m so humbled to document such a special time in their lives!

Here are a few of my favorites from their session and you can also check out their feature on Style Me Pretty here.

Here in Seattle we get used to rescheduling photoshoots due to rain. Especially when we are planning on being outside for most of the shoot….like on a boat….in the middle of South Lake Union. Well having already rescheduled due to rain once before Sara, Stephen and I decided we were going to go for it despite the rainy day we were given. They were such troopers and luckily I was able to commandeer a boat with a roof. Our captain’s name was Jack….yup Captain Jack…..Sparrow?? At least that’s what we...

It's always an honor to be chosen to document a couple's big day, but when a family member comes to you with such enthusiasm and trust to capture such a momentous time in their lives, it makes one feel extra special! My cousin Andy made the incredibly smart decision to ask his longtime girlfriend Kyndall to be his wife this past December, and when she said yes our entire family jumped for joy!! We have all loved Kyndall from the very first time we met her and couldn't be happier...

Sending letters in the mail is now quite the novelty. I don't know about you but I love receiving cards and little notes in the mail. It makes one feel extra special and very loved when someone takes the effort to hand write a sentiment and pay the postage to have you receive it via the postal service.  What better time of year to send someone a little love note than on Valentines Day. Krista of Prive Events and I thought the romantic notion of the handwritten mailed valentine would...

A few days before Christmas I was able to be part of something very special. A surprise engagement of a dear friend! The funny thing is that it was a surprise to me as well! My friend Melanie Duerkopp (who is a photographer in San Francisco) comes home to Seattle for the holidays every year to see her family and her Grandmother who flies in from Germany. Melanie and I are longtime friends from college and we have made it a tradition that I take a big family portrait of...

I had the best time getting to know Kate and Dennis during their engagement session at the Washington Park Arboretum last month. They showed up with smiles on their faces and were up for anything! I basically told them that they were going to go on a hike and make out the whole time...

The moment I met Kelsey and Jim I knew we were going to be fast friends. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled or laughed as much during an engagement session….ever! We met at the Ballard Locks and despite a few rain drops at the beginning Kelsey, Jim and I had the best time. I am so looking forward to their wedding in November. If their engagement session is any indication of how fun and fabulous their wedding is going to be then I know I am in for one good time!! Kelsey and Jim are such a pleasure to be around. Their smiles and laughter are infectious and I have been warned that their bridal party is just as much fun! They are true best friends and so in love, their wedding is going to be truly heartwarming….I’m already starting to tear up!!

Here are some of my favorites from their session. Happy Monday!KJ_1KJ_2

It was a GORGEOUS day in Tacoma, WA! Sunny and in the 60's! That's unheard of in these parts this time of year so the weather Gods were on our side:) I met Toni and Brent at Point Defiance Park, and being that it was my first time there I was in absolute awe of how gorgeous this place was! Brent and Toni are some of the nicest people I've ever met. They both have a reserved, calm demeanor and are always quick to flash a smile or laugh at...
