Steve and Jamie of Sinclair & Moore had the brilliant idea to do a flower pop up shop on Valentine’s Day at Hot Cakes Chocolate Cakery in Ballard. Beautiful flowers plus chocolate cake is basically the best Valentine's Day combo EVER! It was so heartwarming to see customers come back later in the day with their significant others to thank Steve and Jamie for their beautiful bouquets. A few rain drops in the morning couldn’t stop the fun and later as the skies cleared more and more people stopped by for...

Sending letters in the mail is now quite the novelty. I don't know about you but I love receiving cards and little notes in the mail. It makes one feel extra special and very loved when someone takes the effort to hand write a sentiment and pay the postage to have you receive it via the postal service.  What better time of year to send someone a little love note than on Valentines Day. Krista of Prive Events and I thought the romantic notion of the handwritten mailed valentine would...

A few days before Christmas I was able to be part of something very special. A surprise engagement of a dear friend! The funny thing is that it was a surprise to me as well! My friend Melanie Duerkopp (who is a photographer in San Francisco) comes home to Seattle for the holidays every year to see her family and her Grandmother who flies in from Germany. Melanie and I are longtime friends from college and we have made it a tradition that I take a big family portrait of...

She held her dinner party at The Goodwin Library which is located in Pike Place Market and overlooks the iconic sign and market below. Kara used Rachel the pig, who is the unofficial mascot of the market, as inspiration for her favor boxes that contained two beautiful macaroons made by The Sweet Side of course;) She also made her stunning cake that was chocolate and coconut…..so yummy! It was...

Jim and Kelsey's wedding was a ton of fun. The day was filled with laughter and hilarious surprises. It was a cold November day but we braved the elements for some lovely portraits on the grounds at Cedarbrook Lodge. I was thrilled to get to share in their big day and had the best time getting to know their lovely families. Congratulations Kelsey and Jim. I wish you many more years filled with love and laughter! Then this happened!! I was laughing so hard I'm surprised I got an in focus...

When I reflect back on this year I am humbly reminded that I am surrounded by incredibly talented and passionate people. These people inspire me in ways I can't express, and I'm extremely thankful they are part of my life. From supportive friends and family, risk takers in business and those who encourage and validate me in my creative pursuits. All of whom have had a huge effect on me this year, personally and professionally.  It has been a transformative year for Katie Parra Photography and I'm excited to see...
