Kara Burfeind is not just the talented baker and owner of The Sweet Side here in Seattle, she is also my good buddy! When she asked me to photograph her family as a gift for her parents I was extremely honored. We took the pictures at Kara's parent's property in Duvall and the setting couldn't have been more picturesque. The lushness and beauty of the Pacific Northwest never ceases to amaze me! Even the family puppies made an appearance, managing to all pose side by side for one epic group...

I'm excited to announce we have officially joined the Once Wed family as a preferred vendor! 2014 is going to be a very exciting year here at Katie Parra Photography and I am thankful to have Once Wed be part of that journey. Hope everyone has a very happy Turkey Day! ...

Documenting weddings is such a huge honor for any wedding photographer, but when we get asked to be one of just a few that get to witness such a special moment it becomes a very personal and special occasion even for us. When Jared and Kelley asked me to photographer their ceremony at the Olympic Sculpture Park last month I was of course incredibly excited. I've known them for a few years through my husband and Jared working together, and was overjoyed when I found out they were going to...

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Halloween. We celebrated yesterday with a super fun feature on Style Me Pretty Living. Halloween happens to fall smack dab in the middle between my birthday and my husband’s birthday. This year we are both turning thirty so if there was ever a year to throw a Halloween party, this was it! We were so excited when friends and family from out of state said they would be attending so we decided to go all out. Naturally, I was going to have...

For the last few years we have made it a tradition to go to Bob's Pumpkin Patch in Snohomish to pick out our pumpkins for carving. We were lucky enough to have my parents with us again this year and we always try to meet up with our good friends the Rampes. Their daughter Simone is just the cutest thing. I loved getting to see her run around picking up every pumpkin she could get her hands on. We always have a great time at Bob's and I look forward...

I had the best time getting to know Kate and Dennis during their engagement session at the Washington Park Arboretum last month. They showed up with smiles on their faces and were up for anything! I basically told them that they were going to go on a hike and make out the whole time...

Starting in August every year I look forward to new and scrumptious peach recipes. Here in Seattle we go crazy for our Frog Hollow Farm peaches and Pence Farm peaches. They are truly like candy they are so sweet! This year I was inspired by a poached apricot recipe I saw in Martha Stewart Living. Poaching fruit in yummy Lillet is so easy and makes for an incredibly elegant dessert. Also, what dessert isn't better with a matching cocktail! There are endless cocktail possibilities with Lillet. I used the Rosè...

Annie and Joel’s August wedding couldn’t have been on a more gorgeous day. Bellingham with it’s ocean vistas and majestic forests was the perfect back drop for this classic, timeless wedding. Both Annie and Joel’s family really made the day extra special. The ceremony was held in the back yard of Joel’s childhood home which happens to be just down the street from his Grandparents home where the ladies spent their morning getting ready. I always enjoy getting to know families on such an important day. I find myself laughing and crying along with them! The bridal party was a ton of fun and up for anything…like hiking to a waterfall….ok maybe more of a walk, but we ventured off the beaten path…that’s hiking right;) The reception was at the beautiful Bellingham Golf and Country Club and Annie and Joel had a beautiful sparkler send off for their wonderful mini moon to Canada. Thank you Annie and Joel for allowing me to share in your big day, it was a blast!! Cheers!
